Our mission

Our Foundation's mission is to empower families to build secure tomorrows by investing in programs that promote financial stability, support youth and education, and build vibrant communities.

Financial stability

The Securian Financial Foundation supports the financial stability of community members by funding organizations and programs that ensure equitable access to basic needs, affordable housing, and steady employment — helping individuals build secure, resilient lives.

Youth and education

We invest in youth and education by supporting organizations and programs that improve financial literacy and expand access to higher education. These efforts aim to close equity and achievement gaps, boost high school graduation rates, and increase college enrollment in underrepresented communities.

Our grant application process

1. Review the timeline

We review general operating and project/program grant applications two times a year.

2. View the restrictions

The Securian Financial Foundation supports organizations, projects, and programs that do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability or any other legally protected characteristics. The foundation does not knowingly award grants to organizations that discriminate in their hiring, those they accept as volunteers, or the clients they serve.

In order to maintain focus and achieve greater impact, and in some cases due to federal law, the Securian Financial Foundation does not make grants in certain areas. View the list of restrictions.

3. Join an informational Zoom session (optional)

Email Community Relations to be included in an informational Zoom session before the next grant cycle. This will be your opportunity to ask questions and learn more about priorities. Email CommunityRelations@securian.com.

4. Submit an application

Grant applications must be received online through Cybergrants by March 1 or September 1.

Capital requests

To apply for capital funding, you must have an existing relationship with Securian Financial or Securian Financial Foundation. To learn about the process, contact CommunityRelations@securian.com.
