Senior Vice President, Institutional Retirement Solutions

Kent leads Securian’s Institutional Retirement Solutions business, overseeing the strategy, development and distribution of longevity and capital-efficient retirement solutions for institutional investors. His responsibilities span pension risk transfer, stable value and guaranteed income solutions, as well as enterprise leadership across risk management, actuarial and finance modernization, capital solutions and asset-liability management.

Experience

Kent joined Securian in 1990 as an actuarial student and has built a career focused on retirement plan product innovation, risk management and investment-related fiduciary issues. He was promoted to second vice president in 2018 when he served as the chief financial officer for the Retirement Solutions business. He was promoted to vice president in 2022 to lead business transitions following key portfolio actions, as well as Securian’s remaining retirement products, such as pension risk transfer and stable value solutions. Kent became executive sponsor for the Mental Wellness & Disability (MW&D) associate resource group January 2026.

Community

In 2019, Kent was appointed by then Governor Mark Dayton to serve on the Minnesota Zoo Board. He was reappointed by Governor Tim Walz in 2023, and has served on the Minnesota Zoo Board Finance Committee since 2019.
