Some detergent here, toothpaste there and you’ve speed volunteered at Securian
Speedy volunteers will assemble kits and packs for those in need on United Way Action Day
ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Securian Financial Group in downtown St. Paul will host a whirl of activity for those willing to donate as little as 15 minutes of the lunch hour to help those in need.
Securian is one of three sites to host the Action Day speed volunteering event for the Greater Twin Cities United Way August 14.
Stations will be set up in the ground level atrium in Securian’s 400 building where volunteers will assemble:
- Laundry kits for low-income families
- Dental supplies for children
- Back to school kits
- Healthy snack packs for children
- Warm blankets for homeless people
“We’re setting up assembly lines for each type of kit,” said Lori Koutsky, manager, community relations and the Securian Foundation. “Securian employees and anyone else who wants to join us can spend part or all of the lunch hour packing the provided supplies.”
Action Day at Securian will start at 11:30 AM and end at 1:00 PM. Volunteers can sign up to speed volunteer for 15 minutes or the entire lunch hour. They’ll be assigned to stations at tables where pairs of hands are needed to help fill bags full of useful items.
“On Action Day, it doesn’t take long to do a lot of good,” said Koutsky. “In 15 minutes you can help assemble dental kits for 15 children, fill laundry packs for 10 low-income families or pack up warm blankets for several homeless children, adults and seniors.”
