Why critical illness insurance?

If you’re diagnosed with a critical illness, it’s important to focus on your recovery — instead of worrying about your finances.

Critical illness insurance is a supplemental health benefit for both full- and part-time Googlers. And it’s a cost-effective way to help with everyday expenses or medical costs. If you have a heart attack or stroke — or you’re diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or another critical illness.

More benefits of critical illness insurance

  • No medical questions or health exam
  • Includes diagnoses made by a licensed provider outside of the United States
  • Covers you, your spouse/domestic partner, child(ren) and/or dependent parent(s)

A dependent parent is either you or your spouse/domestic partner’s dependent parent who is a biological parent, stepparent or adoptive parent. A dependent parent must also satisfy one of the following:

1. Is claimed as a dependent on the IRS income tax forms; or

2. Is financially dependent on the insured for more than half of their out-of-pocket support costs, including but not limited to, food, housing, clothing and medical services.

Initial critical illness care cost scenarios*

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), cancer is the second-leading cause of death in the United States.1 Other expenses in addition to health-related bills can quickly add up if you’re diagnosed with a critical illness like cancer.

Securian Financial pays you up to $30K

That’s right. Your critical illness plan provides a $15,000 or $30,000 cash payment, depending on your election. So if you are diagnosed with a covered critical illness, you may use this benefit to keep your out-of-pocket expenses to a minimum.

The cash payment you receive from Securian Financial does not have to be used to pay your health insurance out-of-pocket costs. It can also be used for any unexpected costs (medical or non-medical).
