Recent declarations by Governor Carney, together with bulletins issued by the Delaware Department of Insurance (“Department”), give you certain rights under your insurance policy if you can demonstrate financial hardship as a result of the novel coronavirus (“COVID-19”) pandemic and have been unable to timely make previously required payments.
These rights are currently in effect but are temporary, though they may be extended further. Please check the Department’s website for updates.
Catching up on overdue insurance payments
We are required to permit you to pay overdue premium through a repayment period if you did not make a timely premium payment due to financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will provide you the option to repay the unpaid premium over a 12-month period through equal monthly installments. Any such repayment plan will be documented in writing and will include information regarding the amount to be repaid, when payment is due, and the amount of each payment. The repayment plan is available for policyholders that have past due premiums from March 25, 2020 through July 1, 2020. Please note that the repayment plan is not automatic and you must affirmatively request the option by contacting us.
