Securian's programs and benefits

  • Internal Job Posting Program
    The Company publicizes available positions and provides associates with an opportunity to apply. About 80 percent of our non entry-level jobs are filled from within.
  • Training and education courses and programs
    Our in-house Training and Development department offers a Spotlight Orientation Series, the Supervisory Development Program and various development and computer training classes. Industry education courses are also available.
  • Noontime Seminars
    These free seminars provide information over the lunch hour on topics such as life management, family, benefits and diversity.
  • Tuition Reimbursement Program
    This program covers external courses and programs at approved colleges, universities, vocational-technical colleges and certain other formal adult education programs. The amount paid is 100 percent of the tuition for approved courses (up to certain limits).
  • Paid time off
    The Company provides a generous allotment of paid time off. In addition to receiving pay for most national holidays, associates are given vacation and personal days, creating flexibility to use time off for what's important to you.
  • Performance Share Plan (PSP)
    This plan is unique to Securian. PSP allows associates to share in the Company's success and plan for retirement through:
    • Salary Savings 401(k)
    • Company Distribution (profit sharing)
  • Retirement (Pension) Plan
    This plan provides a monthly payment to you upon retirement. The benefit is determined based on your salary and years of participation. This benefit is paid for entirely by the Company and will generally replace 40 to 50 percent of a long-tenured associate's preretirement salary.
  • Health care
    Securian offers a variety of plan options so associates can select the plan that best meets their health care needs and financial concerns.
  • Domestic partnership benefits
    Medical, dental, flexible spending accounts and life insurance coverage is available to same-gender domestic partners of associates.
  • Long-term Disability coverage
    This coverage provides income to replace part of the associate's earnings lost during total disability caused by illness or accident. Unlike some companies, this coverage is paid for entirely by Securian.
  • Extended Illness and Short-term Disability coverage
    These benefits provide a high level of income protection during temporary illness or injury. These benefits are paid for entirely by the Company.
  • Life insurance options
    The Company offers several life insurance plans to help associates build their personal life insurance program. Basic Group Life is paid for by the Company. Both group and individual supplemental coverage is available at a reasonable premium rate.
  • Voluntary Unpaid Time Off Program
    Associates may choose to take unpaid leave, when approved by their supervisor, for personal reasons.
  • Community and volunteerism
    Securian is committed to being a good corporate citizen, demonstrating community commitment through philanthropy, volunteerism and community involvement. Doing Good Works – Securian's slogan for supporting our community – is put into action every day by associates. From supporting United Way, to giving blood, to building homes for Habitat for Humanity, to mentoring children, opportunities to lend a helping hand abound.
  • Subsidized sports teams and special interest groups
    These social groups provide opportunities for associates to develop cross-divisional relationships outside of work.
