That’s why Securian invests in its future management, offering positions in Management Development, a customized career track for emerging leaders.
Beginning with your role as an assistant analyst in the Management Development Center, you will gain business, consulting and project-management skills, and learn to effectively supervise. You’ll partner with internal clients to develop solutions to business challenges, and help clients from all strategic business units improve quality service through analysis of workflow, staffing and productivity.
As a Management Development assistant analyst, you’ll steadily work towards a rewarding leadership position with our large, multifaceted corporation, ready to tackle any business situation and capable of providing coaching and direction to other associates.
What to expect
In order to meet the business needs of clients in all strategic business units, assistant analyst responsibilities are varied and include:
- Associate work direction and supervision
- Evaluating and initiating quality improvement
- Conducting cost justification studies
- Recommending effective methods and procedures
- Facilitating participative problem solving
- Providing staff planning assistance

If a leadership role interests you, but you’re unsure of where to begin, the Management Development Center provides an ideal starting point. The training and hands-on business experience you’ll receive is designed to further enhance your organizational, communication and leadership skills along with many opportunities to strengthen your presentation, writing and technical skills. After spending approximately eight weeks training in the Management Development Center, you’ll move into a rotation schedule.
Our rotation schedule provides you with an excellent opportunity to develop management skills and professional competence while becoming familiar with the Company. Assistant analysts are placed into different areas of the Company for each four-month rotation, based on their interests and experience, and business need.

After your training and rotation program is complete, you may pursue a supervisory or other professional career within the Company.
- Supervisory career positions are available within a variety of departments, such as Administrative Services, Individual Customer Service, Finance or Claims.
- If your interests lie in other professional areas, a wide range of positions are available within departments, such as Asset Management, Human Resources, Marketing, Underwriting and Securian Financial Services, our broker-dealer.
Internship opportunities
In addition to full-time positions, Securian also offers internships in Management Development. Our internships offer qualified candidates hands-on experience and the opportunity to preview job responsibilities, learn about the Company, its culture and the responsibilities that accompany full-time work at Securian.
