Throughout our 133 year history, Securian has maintained a tradition of being a good neighbor by supporting our community through philanthropy and volunteerism. In the past decade alone, Securian has contributed more than $19 million in cash gifts to our community. With the addition of in-kind gifts and the value of corporate volunteerism, total giving over the past ten years surpasses $29 million.

Keeping our community strong
In 2012, Securian contributed more than $2 million in cash gifts and approximately $1 million in in-kind gifts and volunteer services to the community. Funding priorities and allocation averages are:
- Health and Human Services – 32%
For vital services to support and strengthen people in need - Education – 32%
For the economic health and vitality of our community - Economic Independence, Civic and Community needs – 22%
For employment training, job placement and youth development intervention programs - Arts and Cultural organizations – 14%

- Red Cross Blood Drives – 483 pints of blood
- Nonprofit Boards – 80 Securian employees serve
- Mentoring – 800 volunteer hours
- Food Drives – 4,477 pounds
- Scholarships – Totaling more than $500,000 to 150 students since inception
- Volunteer Plus – 42 employees contributed 50-plus hours to nonprofits
